02Late registration

Registration remains available after the due date. The exposure is the interval: from the enforcement date until the registration is recorded, an inspection can find the operation unregistered. Penalties are set by the state conducting the inspection and vary considerably.

03No automatic renewal

Each registration year is a separate filing, assessed against the fleet size at that time. No renewal occurs automatically and no official reminder is issued. Where we filed the prior year we send one courtesy notice when the season opens.
